Hmmm. Though showing people "on the streets" is not a bad thing to do for your magic, I suggest you start of by showing friends and family to build up confidence in your tricks. If you've already done this, then best of luck!

Nerves are something everyone deals with. Search any magic forum and there's a dozen threads about it.

As for what to say to your mother. If you're going to busk, then tell her to just let you try it. If you do well, she probably won't mind once she sees how much you enjoy it and how much you bring in. If you just want to do the guerrilla style, David Blaine street magic, then just tell her you're not asking for money at all.

Start out doing it not for money, just experience. When you start to perform more and learn "what works", then start worrying about the money ;). Or at least that is what I suggest.

I personally like how Brad Christian answers it in some of his video's... when they ask the question rather than answering.. he simply says..." I know... that's Magic... " agree with them and so that your just as impressed..
