My mom is kinda 50/50. She doesn't like me doing magic for HER, but somehow she always "promotes" me. Whenever we're visiting or someone is visiting and she is around, she tells me to show our visitors some magic and she doesn't look or anything. My stepdad couldn't care less. My little sister couldn't care less either. I do magic at school usually, and in 2 weeks I'm going to brazil and I'm gonna do magic to my family over there - who LOVES magic. It's just the luck you need. Many people who have parents that don't like magic never kick it as far as people that have supportive parents. Look at David Blaine and Brad Christian. They both said that they had a supportive mother. Mine doesn't give a ****, but at least she won't put me down, because she would feel like a bad mother that way(she actually said that to me). And I really don't care what they think, because other people like my tricks, I like my mother's creditcard, and my mother likes people who like me. Because if her son has a talent, somehow she will be praised to. Weird stuff, magic-hating parents. My advice for you sands - Do what you do and do it for your dad. Or do it for strangers. Never let disapproving parents prevent you from something that is not bad for your health/future.

I agree, I try and practice for a while before showing.

To OP: your mom is not a good audience so stop showing her.

Just a few random thoughts...

Actually, your Mom can be a great resource. Look at it this way, now that you know how she is, if you can pull something under her nose then I think you're ready for just about anything. View her as the ultimate litmus test.
