I think it depends on your character or the character you present.
Personally Im a fan of the minimalist approach. As much as necessary, as little as possible is my goal.
But if youre more of a move-monkey character, its maybe natural to strive for flourishes and fancy card handling.

I shall try taking the words of people here to hart, I agree that doing dribbles and cutting the deck might distract the person for no reason, so I shall try to minimalize it.

    Thanks Christopher and the rest!

One of the most important thing I learned from an E video was in How to do Street Magic. During the "Go Inside Sugar" trick, Brad told us that every move in magic needs a reason, if you are constantly doing something without a way to explain it, then the audience will become suspicious of your movements.

Take the Glass Stinger trick for example. Would you be suspicious if I just kept lifting the cup off and putting it back? Now when I tell you that we're checking to see if the quarter vanished, then it makes sense to the audience to remove the glass.

So if you are constantly fidgeting and messing with your props, the effect loses some of its magic and just becomes a feat of skill in the eyes of the audience.
