    Magic Schools / Magic Courses

    So where does one "go" to learn magic? The traditional methods might suggest the following...

    Buy a book or two, maybe a set of DVDs and of course, a handful of one-off tricks from our favorite magic distributor (such as

    There's the option of joining a magical fraternity such as the International Brotherhood of Magician's (IBM) or the Society of American Magicians (SAM). Membership entitled you to receive a free magazine as well as the potential opportunity to join a club where you can meet with other magicians. This brings us to...

    Here's some common organizations one can join:

    The International Brotherhood of Magicians (I.B.M.)

    The Society of American Magicians (SAM)

    The Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle)

    The Fellowship of Christian Magicians (FCM)

    Lectures provide aspiring magicians the opportunity to meet their idols and in most cases, talk with them one-on-one about magic. Typically however, the conversations are limited to the topics outlined in the lecture, but sometimes, spinoff conversations do happen.

    There's the typical battery of trade magazines such as MAGIC Magazine or Genii. There are others, but they are typically less known. or no longer being published. It is a niche market after all.

    If you're lucky enough, mentorship would be the best way to go. This is probably the most difficult method of education to acquire.

    While these common methods are noble endeavors that every magician should investigate on their own, there is one other possibility.
