    Learn About Levitation

    : : L e a r n . . H o w . T o . L e v i t a t e > >

Allow your body to rise off the ground and cause objects around you to move and float into the air as if possessed by outside forces. This is the art of levitation.

One of the most startling and influential branches of magic, levitations have taken the magic community by storm, rising to the pinnacle of magical miracles. Performing a levitation is a sure-fire way to ensure that people remember your name and never forget your magic.

Learning how to levitate is not as difficult as most people think. Utilizing powerful, underground techniques, it is possible to learn the lost art of levitation within days. However, it is very important that you practice these techniques until they become second nature. While performing a levitation shortly after learning it can be very tempting, you will find that this is a guaranteed way to get caught.

Generally speaking, it’s a good idea to avoid performing a new effect or routine until you have practiced for a couple of weeks. This time will allow you to become completely comfortable with your techniques, your presentation, and how you want your magic to affect people. This is especially important when first starting magic. Beginners tend to get so caught up in the excitement of learning something amazing that they sometimes forget that practice is an essential aspect of magic. When it comes to levitations, performing when you’re not 100% ready can be devastating. As magicians, it’s our duty to preserve and protect the secrets of magic. The best way to do this is to practice and perfect our material to a point where it is technically flawless. From there, presentation takes over, and true magic is born.

Levitations are some of the most shocking magic you can perform. You are literally demonstrating the completely impossible: people are not designed to defy gravity. This impossibility unleashes a truly remarkable feeling in your spectators. Travel back in time to when you first saw someone levitate and remember how you felt. Now is the time to learn the secret methods to unleashing this moment of astonishment for your audiences to be.

Ellusionist sells and recommends two different self-levitation effects, as well as methods designed to cause objects to float and move. Here’s the run-down:

    .: The Balducci Levitation

This levitation has become the staple effect of hundreds of professional close-up magicians and is truly a classic in magic. Presented properly with the right amount of practice, this simple illusion catches people completely off guard and knocks them flat. Perform anytime, anywhere, with no setup, tools, or wires. Beware of imitations and learn this stunning feat correctly the first time. Available only as part of our stunning Street Magic Package.

    .: King Rising
Seemingly harness the power of the Earth and utterly rise several inches off the ground. King Rising is one of the most stunning impromptu levitations to ever hit the market. Perform anytime, anywhere, with no setup, tools, or wires.
See the stunning preview video with your own eyes.

    .: Object levitation
A borrowed bill is placed on a spectator’s palm. At first it gently wiggles, then it begins to move. Finally, the bill leaves the safety of your spectator’s palm and hovers in the air for a moment before slowly descending again to be completely examined.

This astonishing feat is taught as part of our stunning Street Magic Package.
Click here for more information on our Street Magic DVD.

    :. The Rising Card
A card is selected and signed by a spectator and is then cut into the deck. The deck is boxed and handed to a spectator to hold. With the magician standing several feet away, the chosen card slowly levitates up out of the deck, revealing its ghostly idenity to the world. Check out the preview video here.

    :. Hummer Card
Cause a playing card or borrowed credit card to spin through the air, from hand to hand, and around your body. This attention-grabbing effect is the perfect lead-in to a full-on street show and is a stunning ice-breaker.

    Patrick,

Great job on all of the new threads. These are great not just for newer members, but also for more experienced ones too. I know I am going to be reading these often. I am sure the title "Learn How to Levitate" will attract many people to this thread.

Just to get this thread going, I wanted to reinforce some of the things you said. King Rising Absolutely no set up, both feet visibly come off the ground, your not turned away from your spectators, it is my favorite levitation.

The Balducci, also incredible with no set-up.

Masterminds, you can learn to levitate up onto objects, a little more expensive but very impressive.

Levitating other objects, a lot of fun. You and your spectators will both enjoy it.

Although my highest reccomendation goes to King Rising, they are all great. Levitation is such an impressive area of magic.

Once again, thanks for staring up this forum, I am sure many people, including myself, will benefit from it.

Although some may percieve this as "reposting what the others have said" I think I should have some input on this.

Balducci: The balducci levitation was the first levitation to really blow the minds of people. It is a great concept, completely impromtu, and mindblowing. I personally consider it a shame that so many people would blatantly expose this great concept.

Masterminds and C.A. levitation: This levitation is one of the most visual of all levitations. You are seen to levitate up to a chair, with both feet off of the ground. Or even up to 6 inches off of the ground. The name says it all. The inventor was a true Mastermind

King Rising: This is the best levitation to come along since the Balducci method. The concept is completely new. Both feet are seen off of the ground. It was invented by a young Corey King (hence the name). It is an Ellusionist exclusive and is well worth the $20that ellusionist has so generously set it at.

Small object levitation: loved by spectators. They get Involved and it is completely amazing.

    Thank you for reading.

Let me start out by saying Balducci levitation is extremely widely known, ever since that special but you can still get away with it if performed well. The King Rising is probley the best up there and I know, I know you would expect the Masterminds levitation would be better but you need a gimmick and its pretty angle sensitive. Hence me going with the King Rising. And levitating objects such as Playing Cards, Money, ID, Tissue, etc. is something that everybody should get there hands on because theres millions of different ideas and possiblities you can achieve with simple methods of levitating objects.

Make a wise decision. Hope I helped.

Im looking for a good levitation, with as little set-up as possible, but that is still effective. Ive learned king rising and balducci, but my problems with those, is balducci is something you can find on a google search, and i dont really like about king rising is the way you cant come down and walk away, b/c in my experience, people rush right over and look at my feet, and i really dont have much time to....clean up, i guess you could say. Im not really worried about price unless it is completely outrageous. I just want something that is effective, reliable, and fun to do.

BSJ8001, Firstly, have you ever actually gone and done the Balducci to anyone? Have you experienced how effective it is?

I can tell you from my experiences of doing the Balducci, it is the best, maybe one of the only impromptu levitations around.

Who do you think is going to google itup and look for it? I doubt they will even know the name of it unless you tell them.

Don't worry about this. Follow the really good tips on the HTDSM video, and you can blow people away with this. I have seen people try the Balducci on me, just to see how they do it. Let me tell you it was bad. Follow the great tips the video gives you and you can make them swear that you couldn't have done that.

Most people don't remmeber exactly that you were standing in a particular way or anything when you actually performed. They just rememebered that you levitated!

So what you do is upto you. Seriously, go out and try the Balducci, only that can convince you.

For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.
For those who don't, I couldn't care less.

The thing that just came off bad to me about balducci was that I was in class one day and a magic came up (David Blaine i think) and some kid stood up and was like "theres some 'levitation' you can do that is only this" and he did it. so that, and being i learned how to do it by searching where to find it, I sort of cut it short I guess. Ill give it a try.

There is no Aliun levitation. It was considered and almost released at one time and was then discontinued because of safety concerns. That is all there is to it.

Your first half of the sentence is answered by the second half. They did not advertise what they thought the problem was. The thing was, there was very little chance of this problem happening, but they did not want to take even that much of a chance of someone getting hurt.
